about
Stephen Hamm, a legendary figure in the Vancouver music
and arts scene for over three decades, is proud to announce the release of his second single, "Are You Receiving Me?", from his upcoming album Songs of the Future. The album is slated for
release on May 6th, promising a thrilling journey into the realms of electro-rock.
Delving into themes of losing connection, longing for reconnection, and the poignant pain of isolation - "Are You Receiving Me?" harnesses Hamm's introspective lyrics combined with his dynamic musical arrangements promising to captivate audiences worldwide. The accompanying music video, directed, shot, and edited by the talented Ani Kyd adds a visual dimension to the song's narrative. With a distinct vision in mind, Kyd crafted an epic visual experience, creating a spaceship capsule set using props from Industrial Works. The result is a visually stunning journey that complements the song's emotional depth.
Stephen Hamm, as Theremin Man, invites listeners to embark on a unique musical odyssey. A master of the theremin, an early electronic instrument played by interacting with magnetic fields, Hamm's solo performances showcase his unparalleled creativity.
Over the years, he has enchanted audiences with his solo shows, blending theremin and synthesizer to create abstract dimensions of sound. Hamm's musical career spans multiple bands, including
Slow, Canned Hamm, and Nardwuar And The Evaporators. In recent years, he has shifted his focus to exploring the possibilities of the theremin, pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
"Are You Receiving Me?" is a testament to Stephen Hamm's enduring passion for music and his commitment to pushing artistic boundaries. As anticipation builds for the release of Songs of the Future on May 6th, audiences can expect an electrifying musical experience that transcends genres.
The video was directed, shot, and edited by Ani Kyd Wolf. Ani had a very specific vision for this video. With that vision in mind, she rented the incredible props from Industrial Works and Ani built a spaceship to film this epic video.

This is a solo project by Stephen Hamm: he writes and records all the songs, sings, and plays most of the instruments (theremin, bass, synthesizers).
